Build a DNS Handoff Inventory for Outsourced Web Design
Record domain ownership, DNS records, dependencies, approval, rollback, and verification before a website launch.

DNS changes can affect the website, email, verification services, and security controls at the same time. An outsourced team needs enough information to prepare a safe change, while the client retains ownership and final approval.
Capture the current state
Record the registrar, DNS provider, administrative owner, recovery contact, nameservers, relevant records, time-to-live values, and services that rely on each record. Export or otherwise preserve the approved pre-change state without putting credentials in the inventory.
Prepare the change set
Coordinate timing
Document the intended window, expected propagation behavior, freeze period, and escalation contacts. Lowering a time-to-live may require advance work; it should not be assumed to take effect immediately for already cached answers.
Verify from more than one view
Check authoritative answers, public resolution, the chosen HTTPS hostname, redirects, and critical mail or verification records affected by the scope. Add timestamps to results. Do not call a launch complete based only on one browser session.
