Typography can look settled in a wide mockup and fail when headings wrap, users zoom, or translated labels expand. Responsive type acceptance should use real templates and content extremes, not a single specimen page.

Prepare the test set

Choose representative headings, dense paragraphs, tables, labels, validation messages, prices, dates, and navigation items. Include the longest approved content and realistic narrow-screen combinations.

Inspect behavior, not just values

  • Check hierarchy remains clear without relying only on size.
  • Look for clipped text, collisions, and orphaned controls.
  • Confirm line length and spacing stay readable.
  • Test browser text enlargement and page zoom.
  • Verify fallbacks when the preferred font is late or unavailable.
  • Record intentional exceptions

If a campaign lockup, chart, or data table needs special handling, document the supported content and viewport boundaries. Do not silently shrink important text to rescue a fixed composition.

    Hand back editable rules

The client should receive type tokens, font licenses or approved sources, fallback stacks, component rules, and examples of accepted wrapping. Include who may introduce a new text style.

    Frequently asked questions

Must every heading remain on one line?

No. Design for meaningful wrapping instead of forcing fragile font sizes or widths.

What should happen when a web font fails?

Use a tested fallback stack that keeps content readable and controls usable.
