Do Not Let the RSS Feed Become an Invisible Orphan
Plan feed scope, metadata, discovery, validation, and ownership alongside an outsourced article workflow.

**Published: September 9, 2026**
An RSS feed is a product surface even when it has no elaborate page design. Readers and integrations depend on stable item identity, dates, links, and summaries.
Choose the feed contract
Name the included content families, item order, summary or full-content policy, language, update schedule, and stable identifier. Decide whether corrected articles update in place and how removals are handled.
Align the public identity
Feed links should use canonical production addresses and approved absolute image URLs. Set a clear title and description, expose discovery metadata where agreed, and avoid leaking preview hosts or unpublished content.
Validate an actual response
Request the feed directly, check its content type and syntax, and open it in more than one reader. Compare recent item titles, dates, and destinations with the public index. Assign an owner for failures that visual page review will never reveal.
